Crystal’s practice focuses on real estate finance and multifamily lending, with an emphasis on the development of affordable housing and other community development projects.
Crystal represents institutional lenders and non-profit community development financial institutions in connection with complex structured financing transactions, including acquisition, construction and permanent loan financings of multi-family rental, commercial and other mixed-use projects, forward loan commitments, revolving credit facilities, mezzanine loans, and loan participations and syndications.
Crystal’s practice also includes low-income housing tax credit projects, tax-exempt bond transactions, bond credit enhancement, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac executions, and other government-subsidized mortgage lending programs.
Crystal has extensive experience representing not-for-profit entities, community organizations, and housing development fund companies (HDFC’s) in various stages of affordable housing project development in partnership with public and private entities government agencies, and community stakeholders.
Crystal was previously the general counsel of the NYC Housing Partnership where she oversaw the organization’s real estate portfolio, advised on regulatory matters by ensuring compliance with state and federal not-for-profit laws, and served as corporate counsel to over 350 affiliated HDFC’s on a wide variety of corporate governance and organizational issues. In her capacity as general counsel, Crystal also represented an affiliated community development financial institution in originating seed loans for affordable housing and community development projects.
Crystal is a former Voting Member, and presently an Affiliate Member, with the Housing and Urban Development Committee of the New York City Bar Association.
Crystal currently resides in Brooklyn, New York with her family.
