Eric's practice focuses on the acquisition, financing and development of commercial real property, with a particular emphasis on the development of affordable housing and other community development projects.
Eric has represented numerous commercial banks, non-profit community development financial institutions and other private lenders in connection with the closing of acquisition, construction and permanent loan financings of multi-family rental and for-sale housing projects, healthcare facilities, office buildings, hotels and other mixed-use projects. He has also represented several tax credit equity investors in negotiating both proprietary and multi-investor funds that invest in tax credit generating real estate investments.
Eric has extensive experience with loan facilities, letter of credit and investor equity transactions utilizing tax exempt bond financing, low income housing tax credits, historic tax credits, new markets tax credits and other business investment tax credits, as well as various federal, state and local affordable housing renovation and construction subsidy programs, zoning incentive programs, property tax abatement programs, and a wide variety of social service programs.
His experience also includes the representation of property owners and real estate developers in connection with the acquisition, development and leasing of office, retail and multi-family housing projects including the acquisition of air and development rights, negotiation of construction contracts and joint venture agreements, office, retail and ground lease transactions, and the creation of planned-unit developments.
Eric was previously associated with the law firm of Emmet, Marvin & Martin LLP, where he was a partner in the firm's Real Estate Practice Group, and he started his career in the Real Estate Department of Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP.
